Hello, new readers and residents. I am Damage, gonzo journalist, catalyst and an explorer of weird and futurologistic. I infect young and hungry brains over at International Business School with weekly lectures about in theory, online marketing and cultural trends, and in practice, how to rock out on Foursquare, why does Stelarc and half the BMEZine locals represent a new target group with their concept of "body as canvas" and why H+, Wired and ReadWriteWeb is something you can't live without. (If some of you young and hungry brains are reading this, nice to see you around.) I also co-edit Mondo, a pop culture magazine about Japan with a monthly 12 page feature about things no sane teenager would ever touch and I'm also running point on The Dose which is something very similar to what Lonely Planet would do if their target group was the Camden Market posse, deep in the underground. Our latest issue was released about Paris and while we're at it, the market imperative says you should buy our issues like fuck, because every euro you spend on us exponentially elevates the chance of us getting a BCI and doing all sorts of experiments you only see in science fiction movies or in the best-of compilations of Darwin Awards. Only we'd survive to tell about it.

I'm also in the middle of an experiment that looked like a great idea when and where I announced I was doing it, namely that I can master elementary Dutch in 30 days using ONLY YouTube and nothing else, not even a single Wiki page listing all the irregular verbs or anything. It all promises to be very, very much like my German that I gathered during arduous years of Blümchen, toothpaste ads on Pro7 and obviously, porn. My Chinese is even worse off, limited to spacefarer cursing from Firefly. But it really doesn't stop the wicked from trying and if the Qlimax live videos don't motivate us well enough, what would?

The book that I'm writing is still in progress, although there are more of you now who urge me to publish whatever I have tommygunned into a stray crypto RTF scattered throughout multiple brains throughout the globe. Nothing better than geographically separated quantum bio storage. I now go gloriously under flechette to get the Qi going and you, you read this blog, because it has a message to tell you all. (And as for something completely unrelated, Coilhouse issue 05 is in the house!)

Kilenc nappal és majdnem száz maillel ezelőtt keresett meg @vonzovera, a profilok.tw főszerkesztővezetőnője, hogy "te vagy a következő", ami egy kicsit aggasztó is egyszerre meg olyan, mintha pár másodpercig Christopher Lambert lennél parkolóval, borostával meg karddal, de aztán inkább megcsináltuk az interjút, ezennel is jövök egy sörrel (vagy valamivel) @yaanno-nak a továbbajánlásért. A továbbajánlás csavaros ötlet amúgy, minden interjúvolt maga ajánlhatja a következőt, úgyhogy előrevetítettem a jövőbe @dismay22-t, hogy elgondolkodjon, van-e értelme olyan linkeket posztolgatni több éve már, amivel minden nap felhívja magára a figyelmemet. Akit amúgy meg érdekel, hogy mi van mostanában velem vagy nem kérdezte meg a kérdéseket a régmúltról, most egészen sok meg lett válaszolva.

Amúgy Biopunk Razzor meg jómagam szerveztünk október 22/péntekre egy twittertalit a Vaskapuba, este nyolctól lehet jönni inni meg világmegváltani, nem kívánt sorrend törlendő. Menjetek olvasni már, az első kávémat se ittam még meg.

diminished reality: basically photoshop for videos

It's in German, but you'll definitely get the point - Diminished Reality is basically about erasing anything from a video that you wouldn't like to see there, sort of working as a very specific-function Photoshop for videos or live video feeds. How it works is actually quite funny - objects are deleted from a lo-rez version of the video and then it's re-sampled to its original quality. Bernáth/y szerint olyan zene voltunk, amivel a gyárakban a mélynyomókat tesztelték, hogy gyorsan tönkremennek-e. Ezt akkor és ott bóknak vettük, nincs ez ma sem másképp.

Just putting this out to you so the word goes around - don't use the first and foremost Twitter.com for a while, only mobile clients (or play sad nun and untwitter everything!) - weird mouseover links will automatically make you go Jackson Pollock on your wall and you don't want that. Until further notice - use whatever else is there (and there's shitloads) and also go enjoy The Event.

The pentagram presents itself to me lost in time, like tears in rain on a day God decides to amp up gravity just to see how hard you can try to carry your eyeballs from The Shelter to The New Frontier. The torrent is there and the pentagram is very much so, carved into the ground with a double circle of protection around it, if it is fun, it is geographically impressive, if it is serious, its impressiveness sways in other directions. Grass never grows that fast like those near the tracks, turn the camera slowly around, the vicinity changes. Subtle signs of reality hacking. Construction towers remain construction towers. There is something in that moment, out of reality. Still looking for it. Or a false, false alert.

unbuddhism: the week in objects 01

I hesitated / before building the first katamari of footsteps / the personality construct. A fake LOMO shot staged somewhere not an office nor a home anymore. Unbuddhism, from Saturday till Saturday, objects best presentable now, then lost later. Always is genius, stasis is the enemy. "Procedural graphics entry card to Function-X" with The Girl In The Ono-Sendai T-Shirt and her bookcrossing find, "Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs" - must read and pass on, the cover and the format talk to me. About getting my book finished and getting it to print. A proverbial muse still looking at her hands, pondering about how to finger my precious brain meat. Ideas, rare commodity. An "Anonymous soft drink, Club Maté" with their unmistakable logo and their secret concoction the taste of fig, the color of off-lab carbamide, a bottled memory of the First Budapest Science Meetup. "The September issue of Mondo" with twelve new pages of The Damage Report in it and the "first hardcover, still print-odorous edition of Doktor Sleepless" with a metallic, nauseating perfume of oldschool BASF tapes from the nineties. There was a whole week when we only communicated via haiku, all the guys on IRC on our secret channel, not so secret anymore, a handful of eager, vibrant bodies bursting with hormones, smartness or an unlucky combination of both, handful meaning something close to thirty people. There was even a saying if you cannot say it in seventeen syllables, it doesn't exist. I know, because I made it up. And I still approve.
