Massacre). Fél szemmel azokat az oktatóvideókat nézem, amiből végre teljesen tiszta, hogy hogyan lehet dühödt, kövekkel telepakolt kávéautomata-basszust csinálni, a Reese basszust előszeretettel használja átcsavargatott változatban a Black Sun Empire meg a Noisia is, ami meg az ütemeket illeti, ott a lenti Fruity Loops oktató, érezzétek jól magatokat, én elvesztem, megint elkezdek zenét írni. Minden más mellett.

UPDATE 1: Dobhegyezés Reasonre, most.

gravious - temple ball

The best present of the plan9 SF festival, Gravious live.

nastybyte: one for the old memories

Baltimore-based NastyByte has a YouTube channel for her multi-camera concert shoots for bands like Psychic TV, Haujobb, Covenant, Ministry, Front Line Assembly, Front 242, Ayria, Razed in Black, Delerium, Plaid or Chemlab - basically anything we came to love as industrialists and EBM fans during the past decade. Which either means we're old farts or it means the new generation of the scene hasn't put anything noteworthy on our table. And we doubt that, because we have just received a few good albums in the past two months that made us smile. Two songs to make you remember.

hometown glory, high contrast

I want to get out those five minutes of the music video CG I have in my head when I'm hearing this. I have a graphic storyboard on my retina with the concept of a genuinely new live PA system (leaving Ableton crying in the corner), an updated version of Serial Experiments Lain and little creatures that burst into Julia sets when touched. And a few other things. If any of my readers are contractors for neural procedural generation interface and brain rendering works - you know where to come. For all the other hallucinogenically induced bastard readers of mine - yes, that's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas right there.

daichi: japan's answer to beatboxing beardyman

daichi

18-year old wonder kid Daichi is making world beatboxing championships - Beardyman and all his celebrity kin - work hard on their tonguework. Although his contestant material for the YouTube Beatboxing Championship is nothing short of amazing (his scratching is GODLY), what's really shining is his appearance in a Japanese TV show where he performs with boyband SMAP - but before that, he's really sending everyone in a frenzy and he deserves every fucking millisecond of it. (via japanitup)

UPDATE 1: It's not merely the scratching that makes Daichi's stagework amazing but also the tongue clicks he does. Ever thought about all the click consonants that South Africans have in lots of their dialects? How many kick-ass beatboxers can they have - or what if Daichi is actually speaking in African dialects when he rolls a groove?

daito manabe having a party in your face

Daito Manabe kickstarted his way to YouTube last October, now he's posting more material on his microstimulus projects that sync facial muscle twitches to glitch minimal. Above: four of his friends taking part in a sync experiment, below: it's all about adding LED light. (via gizmodo)

UPDATE 1: Follow Daito's YouTube channel.

juno reactor: "i wanted to be like yello"

All of us who grew up with MTV and the techno era of the nineties have a few strands of Ben Watkins in our DNA. We spent an hour on the phone with one of the forefathers of all that's goa and psy with the saw leads and the bubbling basslines and the samples that cut knowledge in our forebrains and we know - he loves working with new people, he thinks dubstep is the new shit and he's just a master chef... or so he says.

alec empire: "music videos don't matter anymore"

We hooked up with Alec Empire not too long after Election Day. The mastermind behind Atari Teenage Riot and now his new project, The Hellish Vortex redbulled into a chilly evening and talked about his apparent optimism into 2009, his movie projects, how MySpace fame can turn into a worst nightmare and also, what you need to tweak to acquire the urban stage legend we call "riot frequency". All this in the bowels of a Ukrainian stone-carrier ship turned into a venue on the Danube.

headscan: "cyberpunk was not a revolution"

Headscan has always been a definitve milestone in intelligent dance electro, industrial techno, cyberpunk, call it what you will, in a pantheon of names like Haujobb, Clock DVA or Forma Tadre. Cool, blue and sombre across the soundscape of the real, they slapped Gibson and Sterling into the mix of hyperclear electronics under the TV skies of Canada. Taking a break, they shared their opinions on cyberpunk, bizarro, techno-fetishism, Dune and many more.

free soundtrack for mobigame's iphone platformer EDGE

Been thinking about buying an XBOX360 for quite a while (just for Rez HD and  GTA4, I guess, Too Human quickly turned out to be overhyped) but the iPhone quickly pushed the console off the throne with its pretty convincing list of casual games - Edge being one of them. This retro-abstract-futuristic cube platformer is one of the best of the best - challenging gameplay, masterful core gameplay, great audio and very convincing design - and now Mobigame offers the Edge soundtrack for free - download it here. Passes with flying colors, paving the way, it ain't nothing but mo' hard shit. I'm back whenever.

dna out of business?

Go and youtube DNA Lounge. This SF venue welcomed bands from Terrorfakt to Nachtmahr to The Birthday Masssacre and now the California Department of Alcoholic Beverages Control tries to put them out of business. Apparently the Lounge is "disorderly" and "injurious to public welfare and morals". Reports in by @warrenellis (also on his site) and on the Lounge servers.

the new black

White, blue and grey is the new black.

Filming postponed because of the London weather reports, working on sets next week. New project launches next week. No time to blog. I have a shitload of links to post, might have time to share them with you on Sunday - during worktime. No rest until grave.

mirror's edge new time trial pack (and an awesome theme song remix)

When we started Mirror’s Edge we were working with abstract environments, quick test levels that we threw together so we could mess around with the moves. Then came the game and the more realistic urban settings which were a lot of fun to work with but there was always a little voice in the back of our minds saying, “Remember when you could build any bizarre shape you wanted?”

We have been making a variety of maps for the upcoming release of the Pure Time Trial Map Pack. We didn’t want to be limited by an urban setting; we wanted to “leave the city behind” and focus completely on the nature of movement itself. The maps are all about exploring the purity of the core gameplay with nothing getting in the way.

Tom Farrer, ME producer blogging about the new Mirror's Edge DLC, the Pure Time Trial Map Pack. The music you hear during the trailer, that's the Teddybears remix of Lisa Miskovsky's Still Alive theme song.

alec empire: az optimizmusom megriaszthatja az embereket

Budapestre látogatott Alec Empire, az elmúlt két évtized elektronikus zenéjének meghatározó alakja. A kilencvenes évek hangzásait inspiráló zenésszel arról beszélgettünk, hogyan látja két évtizednyi lázadás után a világot, hogyan születnek filmzenéi, miért lehet kellemetlen a MySpace-hírnév - és hogyan okozhatunk lázongást bizonyos frekvenciatartományokkal. (link via hvg.hu)

Jó egy órányi beszélgetés az A38 gyomrában, Alec Empire még mindig visszafogott, kedves interjúalany, Nic Endo láncdohányzik a pult mellett, nem akar beszélni,  az őket kísérő, a hajó színpadán debütáló gitáros, a Der Plan-ból ismert Achim Treu videózik vagy a pultot támasztja. A magyarul olvasható interjú körülbelül fele az eredeti angol verziónak, amit várhatóan jövő héttől olvashattok, amiből kiderül még számos dolog az új párizsi koncertDVD-vel, a hannoveri punkokkal és az idei koncerteken játszandó Atari Teenage Riot-számokkal kapcsolatban. alec empire & the hellish vortex live in budapest

Tonight - an interview with Alec Empire and Nic Endo, marking a real beginning in 2009. Expect interview early next week in English, Hungarian readers can glimpse a part of the full interview with a few photos, links coming in later. Still working on projects and news trickling in from early February. Site visits dropping possibly because I'm not posting new content. Patience, patience.
