After @tlvlp's ground-shattering recommendation of the day, we're back for a few days of Attrition, Die Form, Morbus Kitahara and probably Skorbut as well. And obviously, Kirlian Camera. And they're playing on the 7th of November at the Columbia, Berlin, and I'm just missing them. Harshest slap on the wrist today. william gibson's speaking vocoder piano (from hell)
Okay, let's get this straight - it was William Gibson on Twitter who actually posted this weird contraption saying it was spooky how it reminded him of Wintermute and the speaking head of 3Jane. As all sites woe, the video is in German (although it has English caps all over it and also in its description), but the main things is - a "speaking piano" reciting the Proclamation of the European Environmental Criminal Court at World Venice Forum 2009. Unfortunately it's all in German, but what the piano says is all English, and it's really neat to watch.

And it plays well with the limits of our construction abilities. That is, we hear sounds that obviously aren’t normal music, but neither they are language, and one could say that sometimes, a bridging happens. It's been some time since I last checked up on the New Zealand electro-industrial act Mercy Cage and if you haven't heard them, allow yourself the luxury of a few minutes to check on their MySpace for Hymn 01 (with video above), Prozac, God and the Atomic Bomb and finally, Needlemarks (& Scars), three amazing tracks in the long list of zonerun tracks. Best known for their remix work, Future Funk Squad had their breakthrough with a remix of club classic Raze - Break 4 Love. Head honcho Glen Nicholls, the producer/mastermind behind it all, has done remix work for such diverse acts as Moloko, Mint Royale, Lamb and The Stanton Warriors. Let me get this straight: the Portuguese experimental tribal jungle crossover rock (yes, I made that up, get over it) project Blasted Mechanism is one unique and masterful combat dawg, mixing a skullful of peyotl with all the tweaked fashion of the tokusatsu movies (now in neon) with a tribal herd of trigger-happy Predators and imagine how they would feel after they have won the intergalactic soccer championship and now they rock with the divine cock out. Both video tracks come off their latest album Mind at Large.

black nail cabaret: new songs, new cabaret look
It was six months ago that I wrote about Black Nail Cabaret - a dark candy cabaret musical project of two friends, founders of the (now thankfully defunct) Hungarian horror performance group Art Macabre. Emke and Soffy started with their cover song of Rihanna's Umbrella (below) and now their MySpace has undergone something of a revamp - new pictures (courtesy of Balazs Kassai) and a few demo songs. Remember what Zoog said to newcomer bands? Never, never release a demo. Remember what else he said? Don't give up.

skorbut: nine lives later
Half kAlte fArben, half Dorsetshire, German electro-industrial (or something you'd call club electro nowadays) act SKORBUT is entirely convincing in its sound and miserable in its looks. Their download-only EP "9 Lives Later" is a decent peace of work and if you remember how well-produced kAfA was back in the days - Daniel Galda's time spent with Das Ich just helped it to become more focused and actually much more German in its sound. If you were into Forma Tadre or kAlte fArben, you gonna love Skorbut (check their latest album Firewall) and Combichrist fans are in for some treat as well - Phantom Pain live just sounds like Andy on a day bored and algorhythmic.
