vw kai-nalu: electric concept car
Christened as the Kai-Nalu, this one somewhat reminds one of an Onyx. Inspired by the Mediterranean waves crashing off rocks near Ferriol’s residence, the car boasts a flowing glass upper section. The car uses two elements in its construction, and flaunts some highly stylized wheels too, bound to grab loads of attention. (more concept images via greenlaunches.com)
second trailer for new cyberpunk anime exaella released
Andrew Oudot, mastermind behind a new and relatively obscure SF/cyberpunk anime Exaella has just released a second trailer for his project, revealing more black and green and film grain, a mysterious girl, someone with a weird helmet that apparently came straight from Hellgate:London and HUDs with lots of kanjis thrown in to make sure we are in the future and humanity will suddenly ditch English as a universal intermediary language to switch to Japanese. Which I personally wouldn't mind but anyway. web 3.0 - kate ray's documentary on the future of the web
Information overload is a harsh reality for all of us. How do we find what we are looking for amongst the ever growing mass of information? How do we filter out the junk and get to the stuff we really need/want to see. Even if we do at times successfully filter the information around us down to the really important stuff, we still find it to be an overwhelming amount.
In a short 15 minute documentary titled Web 3.0 NYU Journalism/Psychology major Kate Ray explores the future of this information explosion. Ray’s documentary is not an earth shattering piece of work, but it is definitely worth your 15 minutes. Check out the video after the break. (via singularityhub)

Fellow arcane mindwarpers @technoccult released this some time ago, an interesting tidbit about how addicted we all are. Addiction is quite a strange concept that kept stabbing me in the face during the past weeks and we've worked our way into the chapter of our book we want to release this year or next year, whenever we wrap it up and have a book company or releaser or an evil gnome of fulfilling wishes ready. But still. Cyborgs on our own, reaching functional status with a tool, any tool, how can we ever get unaddicted the symbiotic nature of humanness? Must drink another coffee now to drench the morose aftertaste.
planck: audiosurf meets auditorium
Planck is an upcoming music-based experiment which looks to play out in a similar fashion to Audiosurf, but with different core elements. Enemies litter your path, and destroying enough of them unlocks a new instrument for the current song. A hólyagod annyira elnehezedett tizenkét órányi formagyakorlatozás után, hogy saját neve és IP-címe is van már, te meg csak annyit veszel észre az egészből, hogy jobban be kell hajolni a térdsöprés előtt, na ez a flow, a pozitív pszichológia legnagyobb vívmánya. Hiába motollázik vele a magyar öntudatban a fogalmat elhíresítő Csíkszentmihályi Mihály pszichológus, a legtöbben itthon büszkén letorkoztak ötszáz évnyi tanult tehetetlenséget és nem értik, hogy miért lehet belefeledkezni boldogan abba, amit csinálunk, a párizsi fiatalok inkább izzadtak egy kicsit, eltörtek párszor kart meg lábat, aztán elindították világkörüli útjára a parkourt.
Hamarosan az újságárusoknál a júniusi Mondo magazin, aminek a címéből hiába dől az orális fixáció, igazából a parkourról szól, arról a sportról, amivel három másodperc alatt le tudsz jönni az Árkád tetejéről úgy, hogy közben virágot veszel és öltözködsz is, a jobbak ilyenkor meghódítják a lányok szívét (vagy stílszerűen rögtön az IMAX 3D terembe szaltózták be magukat a légbefúvókon keresztül), a rosszabbaknak meg egy hónap fekvő- és tizenegy hónapnyi járógipsz MEG a sztori, hogy megpróbálták. 21. századi Amerika egészségügyi rendszere összeomlott, a törvénykezés az ellátást az állampolgárok teljes és végleges sterilizálásához köti, a kórházakban pedig az orvosokat komputerek és robotok váltják föl. Mindezzel a kormányzat a vérengzésbe torkolló Egészséglázadásokra keresett megoldást, de a helyzetet némiképp túlreagálta. A rendszerből kikerültekkel illegalitásba menekült orvosok foglalkoznak csak, akik ha kell, műtenek a konyhaasztalon is. Ám az egészségügyi készleteket a hatóságok szigorúan felügyelik, rendelkezéseik kijátszása csupán alvilági módszerekkel sikerülhet. Billy az ellenálló orvosok köré szerveződött földalatti mozgalom tagja, „pengefutár”. Az életét kockáztatja azért, hogy mások megmenekülhessenek. A rendszer ellensége ő, mégis az amerikai nép egyik utolsó reménysége.
E könyv utóélete legalább olyan izgalmas, mint maga a történet. Alan E. Nourse 1974-es regényét Hollywood leopciózta, és meg is kezdődtek az előmunkálatok. Az élő legenda William Burroughs egy irodalmi forgatókönyvig jutott, a film azonban sosem készült el. A forgatókönyv végül Ridley Scott kezébe került, akinek nagyon megtetszett a cím, így megvásárolta a jogokat… hogy egy egészen más filmet készíthessen el, a Szárnyas fejvadászt. dylan moran: the etapes of the irish genius of hate
This is Dylan Moran, Irish stand-up comedian with a vengeful boyish glee and hate. Back in 1997 when he still looked Bono, only with more sheepish hair and the kindness of a genetically tailored king viper. He is also one of the rare stand-up comedians and funny people we approve of. The second, in fact. (The first one was Dane Cook, Harmful if Swallowed-era. His humor got more American on his way to grandiosity.) Moran appears in a few movie roles (Shaun of the Dead, for one, or A Film With Me In It, here's the trailer), but you really have to go for his live DVDs (Monster, Like, Totally Live and What It Is) to get the real flavour. And for pure and sheer genius, two series: Black Books and How Do You Want Me. If you've ever tasted joyous, cackling-inducing hatred, misery and destruction, he has it all with gorgeous sarcasm and irony. We approve of this man. Go buy his stuff. Especially that he looks like Trent Reznor with a Mozart haircut.
alien versus predator: redemption (the popov fan movie)
AVP:Redemption fan film made by me Alex A. Popov for the purpose of entertaining the fans of both , Alien and Predator franchises, and also to share my vision of what Alien VS Predator film should be. The total budget for this film was about $500 and over 2 years of my free time :) It took so long cause it was a ONE MAN project. I did all filming, directing, Editing, VFX compositing, sound design, You name it. So hopefully you enjoyed it. (via vimeo)
Link comes from Kotaku and trust me, anyone with even a little bit of interest for the AvP franchise will agree with the majority of the commenters. It is cheesy, amateur and it has more effort, interest and striving for something memorable and whole than the whole franchise previously. It's funny, you see. With the AvP movies you will remember and appreciate certain scenes only, though you'll say the whole movie sucked in general. With Popov's work it's just the other way round. And from 500 bucks? Seriously. We bow down to this guy.

A Kiss Could Be Deadly was an electro/punk/new wave influenced band from Huntington Beach, California. They were signed to Metropolis Records, who released their self-titled debut album in 2008. The band split up before year’s end on good terms and are now pursuing other projects. (last.fm)
