conspiracy - actuator
After 3 years of silence. ... You expected more, didn't you? Too bad.
We have to lower the bar you know. Anyway.
This intro was supposed to be done for Breakpoint, Scenecon, Riverwash, Assembly, probably Evoke too, and at some point it was also planned to be a Function invitation, but we could not finish the thing, probably 'cos we failed to even START it. Oh well. Hope you like it still and we hope Still likes it. For the record, it IS 1AM, so excuse us, if we're only moderately coherent.

evan hayden: dressing up your friends as broken robot dolls

I love exploring themes of body-horror, biomechanical transformations, insane robots, and anything vividly colorful. Thankfully for my artwork, I have some very helpful friends who don't seem to mind being painted with crazy metallic body paints, or loaded down with gadgets! Some of my influences are Tadanori Yokoo, Jasper Goodall, and Hajime Sorayama, as well as a life full of comics, video games, robot toys, and my trips to Japan. (evan hayden, via io9)
the dailykawaii promise of eyewatering neon mobile fiction

East side, west side, the days of hoarding are over. Releasing all the stuff I've gathered up in the past few weeks, together with some new reviews on movies like Pandorum, Visioneers, Ben X, Gamer (above), The Killing Room and Sleep Dealer. Seriously pondering on revamping complete template to accomodate more to how the current content is structured. Certain posts remain Hungarian, most of the content is going in English with the occassional dabbling in Japanese. Bear with me and spread more comments, ungrateful puppets.
the mechanical tumor
Mio Iizawa's artificial tumor - a separate entity inside a PC, shrinking or expanding depending on your CPU use, all done with an actuator motor and an air compressor. You start up your Fruity Loops and work on a severely layered track, bam! the tumor expands, shut it down, the tumor shrinks back to its original size. Eerie. (More on Iizawa's works later.) new book of eli trailer
A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind.
We've covered this before but I just enveiled the new trailer without Tom Waits but with a decent amount of Mila Kunis and we can now suspect that the Book of Eli is not really a book, it's more like a weapon. Of some sorts.
petrou, checkers/rorschach body dysmorphia (man s/s 2010)

Loving Nicolas Petrou's Spring/Summer 2010 collection inspired by an illustration Sirichai completed for Geoffrey Beene. As usual, Petrou's use of patterned body tights offer distracting eye candy but there's no denying the ease and surprising wearability of his pieces. (via electro^plankton, below, a trailer of RAGE)

penfield's electrode: episode 2 released
Brainmove, creative mind between the YouTube-based Japanese cyberpunk series Penfield's Electrode has just mailed me the link to the new episode that's been deceivingly entitled 1.1, not part 2. Still, there are a few in-city shots that look a lot like the old cyberpunk game Syndicate. If you're interested in the first episode or the extra details, the stuff is all yours for the taking.
rodarte: tribal tattoo goth girls, death vultures

Laura Mulleavy told WWD she didn't sleep last night because she was so nervous about the Rodarte show — inspired by the singed Death Valley and "mangled and tattered" black vultures — today, but she had nothing to fear. The room was packed for her and her sister Kate's Spring 2010 collection debut; crunchy black sand was on the floor, dry ice smoke filled the room, and a musky scent wafted through the room as part of a collaboration with fragrance company Firmenich (...) every model had her arms painted with makeup to appear like tribal tattoes, goth lips, and their hair wrapped in webbed wool. most of them love living but one doesn't

According to what Shane Hope writes about himself, he appears to be the new Kenji Siratori, only with a firm grip on the English language. His Compile-A-Child drawings are born from the foglet community of Transmetropolitan and childhood days when skies will be grey, your feet will be cars, your eyes mirrors, your cunts and cocks always wired into a better 'verse that flips into standby during day/nightshifts and the Zionite dub-cum-dubstep will serve as your audio equivalent of the morning coffee when there's nothing left at all. Most of them love living, but one doesn't. (via grinding.be via accelerating future)

assault girls: csinos lányok, nagy fegyverek, mészgödör
Crackhabzsolás szájszélre keményedett látható eredménye keveredik a Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future nyolcvanas években felköhögött, erősen színházias látványvilágával: csak az legyen a képernyőn, ami fókuszban van, amit nem használunk, ott sem lesz. Ennek megfelelően sivatagi bikermaszkba és fekete szárnypárba öltözött japánlányok óriási fegyverekkel tüzelnek pixeltöredékekre őslényeket, de nagyokat, azt mondanád, Avalon, ahogy töredeznek, megnézed a rendezőt, Mamoru Oshii, köhögsz egy kicsit, megigazítod magad a széken, ma én is rendező leszek.
In the aftermath of global thermonuclear war, the Earth’s surface has been turned into a desert battlefield. Three beautiful female hunters: Gray (Meisa Kuroki), Lucifer (Rinko Kikuchi), and Colonel (Hinako Saeki) traverse the barren landscape armed with powerful assault rifles to fight a group of deadly sand-dwelling monsters called “sunakujira” (sand whales). When the the epic battle eventually seems to be coming to an end, the sparkle of muzzle flash dies down and assault ship flies overhead. Suddenly, a gigantic super mutation called “Madara Sunakujira” attacks.
cargo: swiss money, cosmic alienation
Just came across Ivan Engler's SF thriller CARGO - via CPC - looking like a mixture of Ridley Scott's Alien and another up-and-coming deep space corridor thriller Pandorum. Turns out - according what Quiet Earth offers us - that the movie's been in the works for ten years, lived through eight complete script re-writes and is done from Swiss budget only. Looks and feels rigid and cold, perfect! Premiere: Sep 24th, 2009.
The story of CARGO takes place on rusty space-freighter KASSANDRA on its way to Station 42. The young medic LAURA is the only one awake on board while the rest of the crew lies frozen in hibernation sleep. In 4 months will Laura's shift be over.
During her daily patrols, through the eerily empty ship, LAURA begins to get the feeling that she is not alone on-board. A discovery mission in the dark and ice-cold cargo hold ends in catastrophe. The remainder of the crew is awakened. A cat and mouse game begins in which nothing is what it seems. What lies hidden in the strange freight containers and who, or what, is also on-board?
