The Norwegian documentary Bergensbanen details the gorgeous 300-mile, 7.5-hour-long train ride from Bergen to Oslo. An intrepid group of DJs have scored the entire journey, which traverses the frozen region of Finse (a.k.a. Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back). (via io9)

This video highlights several clips we've made using our new High Dynamic Range (HDR) process. Video is captured on two Canon 5D mark II DSLRs, each capturing the exact same subject via a beam splitter. The cameras are configured so that they record different exposure values, e.g., one camera is overexposed, the other underexposed. After the footage has been recorded, we use a variety of HDR processing tools to combine the video from the two cameras. (via gizmodo)
Saturday early morning is perfect for digging through bookmarks, deleting dozens of them and posting what still looks interesting after weeks. Secret Cinema is a club with 60,000 members and more than 30,000 Facebook followers. Each month, a film is screened in an undisclosed location, transporting people into what some suggest is a 'surreal reality'. And just as how it should be, Zack Snyder films an hour worth of material, and then skillfully pulls it to a decent movie length with overexcessive but gratifyingly cozy slow motion. Yet another movie about disappearing into our private mind fortresses when we can't properly handle reality anymore. Just as in McMorrow's Franklyn or Del Toro's El laberinto del fauno or, in a way, Nic Balthazar's amazing but obscure Ben X. Anyway. Movie's released to the theaters on March 25, 2011.

From an era when well-behaved witches still had their daily intake of Tina Root on factory-pressed CDs in their threatening but also adoringly fashionable purses of DOOM and WOE. We are living now in times that tell us that the Schoolgirl Lolita, whoever she really is (being an American God or not) needs a new heir, Tina Root (of above-mentioned and also presently very defunct Switchblade Symphony) now out the stage window and Chibi slowly but definitely losing the schoolgirl look since the Video Kid... video. I know it sounded bad. There is a punishment due later on with bukkake loa and that little dwarf with antlers that are actually dildos, they just look antlers. And a pair of Argentina steak sisters. Blindfolded and Chuck Norrised back into existence. But I digress. So all in all, we have a goddess in pop culture if you haven't noticed and her grandiose name is Schoolgirl Lolita. And her devotees might have a knack for using the Hello Kitty Tarot. Or tentacles. For divining, of course. I feel a very drugged-out and outworldish mythology coming up. Whatever I regurgitate, there's a novel coming up. I need inspiration, then something I call inspiration but it definitely doesn't count as such. And then, a paycheck. So, enjoy. Esoteric kitsch never gets old. You see, Tarot is just like your mother tongue: it hardwires your brain to a specific way of thinking about your world, per se giving you specific permission on what you can and can't do with reality. And as you try to rape that language and reality, trying to find the rules that are bendable and breakable, they will probably, with fate's own twist of irony, rape you back. Tarot is quite the same. There are decks that render your brain without any apparent difficulty on the table. There are decks that might look gorgeous but are very hard to decipher for your feeble little geek brains. And then there are some that leave you wondering about HOW these manifestums of the Minor Arcana might give you any fucking clue about reality and its underlying code. Like the Hello Kitty Tarot. It is not a question of being authentic or not, oh, it is authentic enough in its very own birthright. Just wondering how it might look like when you actually really pull off a divination with these. Van az a zene, amire kilépsz a tető szélére és körbenézel, a valóság ilyenkor az érzékeid alá játszik, szépiázott, öregbarnás leveleket, kottákat, zongorákat, fél melleket és néha telefonnak, néha bakelitnek tűnő plasztikjátékokat visz a láthatatlan kvantumszél, ilyenkor a levegő sem tűnik többnek a víznél. Az első Nohno albummal (Metropolis) egy képzelt várost jártunk körbe, azt vizsgáltuk, milyen emlékezni, hogyan építünk fel személyes mitológiákat és mindezek hogyan változtatják meg a képünket a helyről, ami körülvesz minket. Ehhez mi egy szokványos várost képzeltünk el metróhálozattal, toronyházakkal, felhőkarcolókkal, tócsákkal, jelzőlámpákkal, sorházas utcákkal. Aztán ez egyre torzultabb és színesebb lett, ahogy feltöltöltöttük a lakosok emlékeivel és tapasztalataival. A szemlélődőambient rajongói minden bizonnyal élvezni fogják (ahogyan azok is, akik már a hangoktól is fel tudnak izgulni): aki pedig még körbe szeretne tapogatózni, mielőtt vásárol, tegye: a Limenről meghallgathat öt számot itt, illetve megnézhet három kellően padlóbakötő videót is, amik Lorraine Butler keze és szeme munkáját dícsérik (vimeon vagy youtubeon), illetve ehet még korábbi anyagokat mind a Nohno, mind a Kibuka konyhájából. Azt persze a belinkelt soundcloud után mindenki érzi már, hogy a hangulatfestő nem feltétlenül egyenlő az ambienttel, az ambient meg nem feltétlenül egyenlő a nyugtatóval, ami persze egyértelmű, de hátha.

3 tracks feature the great Toshinori Kondo on electric trumpet. This was an amazing & surprising collaboration. In fact it seemed completely unreal when he asked to make some trumpet parts for us. His work on “ Teaching Humans to speak” is out of this world. The final track on the album is a beautiful ambient remix of “Sleeping through it all” by Asmorod/Higan. Unfortunately, or more probably fortunately, the original Nohno version was lost during a computer meltdown: the remix is so much better. The CD is packaged in a very high quality 6 panel digipak, which seems to do justice to the artwork Jose took so much trouble over. (The Kodama infovert)

Jaggedly organic, devilishly crafted raise-yo-hands chiptune/analogue electro by Kraków-born Lain Trzaska, better known as shemusic, is something of a work of wonder. Layered throught all the social networks, minecrafted out of blocks of Japanese pop culture, it is the McLuhanesque indie music find of the year, as the medium itself is the message and the sheer, gorgeously constructed summer-J-neon-bitpopness of it all will grind you into silent, grinful nodding as you download all his free stuff.
