HINA: szervómotoros robotlány kétcopfantennával

hina

(mujaki's clockwork blog)

nec crv43: curved display porn

nec_crv43_500x375

Reality bites, especially with this 2880x900 px resolution 43" model, NEC's CRV43 that, quote, measures in with a 200 nits brightness rating, 10,000:1 contrast, 0.02ms "Rapid Response," covers 99.3% of the Adobe RGB color gamut, and packs at least one USB2.0 jack and DVI-D and HDMI 1.3 connectors, unquote. The 32:10 ratio puts you in the designer and out the gamer league and the 8000 dollar price tag will make you think about chopping up your colleagues and selling them via the Ukrainian body snatcher community portal to keep up with what the display porn lobby has to offer you. netherlands and architecture: 5 euro commemorative coin @ hq

dutch_coin_design

On the jpg above, that's a "Netherlands and architecture" themed 5 euro commemorative coin also named The Architecture Fiver, designed by Stani Michiels.  On the front side, that's Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard, Queen of the Netherlands, her portrait constructed with names of famous Dutch architects. On the back side, a book shelf paying tribute to Dutch architects and the Netherlands - and both sides have been designed with free software. There is a huge amount of background info on Stani's blog, Pythonide, about how he's actually gone through with the design process - very brilliant and thought-provoking stuff. Thanks to @jurjen_nl, both @dawe_ and I have this -  Lucky Design Flip Coin FTW! (via infosthetics)

korean designers release solar powered shades

Called Infinite Energy: SIG, the sunglasses are designed to turn the rays that it blocks out into electrical energy, providing protection and power all at the same time. The sunglasses have a wire sticking out of them that you can plug into your gadgets (get ready to carry around a million adapters with you if these things are ever real) and juice them up. pileus, the internet umbrella

Pileus ("the internet umbrella!") is a joint project by Takashi Matsumoto and Sho Hashimoto - it's basically an amped up umbrella with access to Google Earth and Flickr (also having a screen surface, a built-in camera, a GPS, a motion sensor and a digital compass). You see a bird's eye view on your surroundings in the inside of the Pileus, GPS and the digital compass keeps the overhead display updated, whereas you can take images with the built-in camera and upload them to your Flickr account with context tags. Mix this with the glowing Blade Runner umbrella and I'm so game. (project site, via cpc)

japanese william gibson vintage laptop bag

All of you who loved the contemporary fiction of Gibson's later books, rejoice. Japanese bag maker Head Porter has just released a new collection of vintage military-styled bags from the William Gibson line. The design "comes from Buzz Rickson, the company responsible for Sugar Cane Denim, as well as iconic flight jackets and Army attire dating back to the WWII era" and the material's supposedly the kind of nylon the military uses in the bulletproof vests (with some genuine horse leather).

Porter MAG lights on zippers, lots of pockets and removeable shoulder straps make the shoulder bag cost 530$, while the shoulderbag version goes for 340$. (via coolhunting via Bruce Sterling)

without words, future transport

Lamperd Less Lethal's T3 Mobile Defender (...) comes equipped with a powerful air gun that is considered non-lethal in a body shot, but could potentially kill someone if they were to take a synthetic bullet to the head. That is why the gun utilizes a holographic sight system to ensure accuracy. (link)

When the BuzzBall moves about and the operator starts to turn, the seat begins to rotate against the direction of travel. If you haven't figured it out already, that means you get a series of spins and barrel rolls—while you're moving. How one stops this thing we haven't a clue, but it probably involves passing out. Called the HUVO, this diminutive electric car forgoes features like "well-being" and "sanity" for "lightweight" (330 lbs.) and "Jesus Christ watch out for that MINI Cooper!" To save weight and development costs, the HUVO is made out of materials that would make any contemporary golf cart proud; mainly plastic, ceramic, more plastic, and a bit of high-tensile steel plate. emperor workstation mod

Every single site from Gizmodo to Ubergizmo thinks that the Emperor workstation mod by NovelQuest has something to do with the Star Wars Universe. Nothing about neural induction links and operator HQs, obviously.  As for the specifics, those will be released on the 24th of July. I am so ordering one of these. As you can see, it has three monitors, also surround sound, air filtering, light therapy, webcam and battery backup. I can't also miss saying,

At the press of a button, the Emperor’s tail section (the large articulated arm that holds the monitors) rises to allow the user to be seated, then lowers back into position the three monitors at the perfect height and angle for perfect viewing comfort.

Yes, yes. Everyone added this as blockquote. (Link sent by PinkTsunamii, thx)

yamaha deus ex machina: motorcycle exoskeleton

The Yamaha-branded DEUS EX MACHINA concept is a motorcycle exoskeleton with 7 artificial vertebra and a pneumatically attached helmet. The motor is in-wheel, powered by ultra-capacitors and doped nano-phoshpate batteries similar to those already used in hybrids. It's also capable of 0–60mph in three seconds. Top speed is 75mph with a recharge time of 15 minutes and cycle time of one hour, adds Hell for Leather.

The concept was created by Art Center College of Design student Jake Loniak and according to Engadget, that's an electric, single passenger, vertically parking, wearable motorcycle, and the bike would theoretically be controlled via 36 pneumatic muscles and 2 linear actuators.
