Lóg a petyhüdt telihold az égen, az Animal Cannibals szerint drogos szomorú emók a cyberpunkok, az Origo egy hete cikkezte ki, hogy cyberpunk lett az első magyar “hivatalos” emo-grupp, a No Thanx, lehet valami a levegőben. Egy pillanatig elgondolkodtam azon, hogy bedobom ide a videót, hogy meg lehessen róla bizonyosodni, hogy nem azok, de higyje el minden olvasóm, kurvára nem azok. Hogy az Origo szakavatott újságírója miért használja a catchwordöt, nem tudom, de ha annyira menő dolog lehet, hamarosan felvirrad a PDnek és gyönyörű, gyönyörű napjaim lesznek.

Ami menti a helyzetet, az a Magyar Képregény Akadémia és jegyzett tagja, Geek, aki a Gépregény (legutoljára ezt Bernáth/y Sándor apánk játszotta el kísérleti techno-magazinjával, a Gépszavával, amiben amúgy több fantázia és design volt még tíz évvel ezelőtt is, mint a hazai lappiac jelentős részénekjelenleg) albumhoz rajzolt kísérő-képregényt. Felkérem olvasóimat, juttassanak el hozzám egy példányt, mert garantáltan nem fogom megvenni az albumot érte.

A gépek és az emberek világát ötvözõ, cyberpunk hangulatú füzet elkészítésére a Magyar Képregény Akadémia tagjait kérte fel a kiadó, így a képi világért Ábrai Barnabás, vagy mûvésznevén Geek felelt. A többek között a Pinkhell és a Sushi Strip képregényantológiákban is megjelent rajzoló mellett olyan kiváló illusztrátorok mûködtek közre, mint a Zorro de Bianco néven is ismert Fehér Zoltán, vagy az Unicum képregényes kampányát jegyzõ Gáspár Tamás, írja az Origo és függetlenül attól, hogy amúgy jogosan siker- és lehetőségéhesnek tartom a hazai képregényrajzoló szcénát és egy pillanatig nem tartom rossz ötletnek azt, hogy lehetőséget adnak nekik még egy ilyen ötlethez sem, a magyarjának csak a képzavar fog megmaradni. Az is rosszul.

A brief conclusion of the latest Hungarian comic con: first volumes of Battle Angel Alita: Last Order and Blame!, full versions of Ghost in the Shell 1.5 and 2 and the Hungarian version of Alive released by Mangafan (who happened to present me with the first volume of Nana as well that somehow got lost in the process of making this photo. On second thought I might have left out the Steampunk: Manimatron trade paperback, too.)

Uninitiated in the lore of G.I.Joe? Me too. But that doesn’t mean we couldn’t  appreciate a ninja in a pyric gear, emblazoned with 既濟. Yes, that’s an I Ching hexagram there (63), meaning “after completion” or “already completed”.

If you’re not into Hellgate or I Ching, don’t worry. Meditate on this: that’s Ray Park there, better known as The Toad or Darth Maul, posing for the first promo pictures for G.I.Joe as Snake-Eyes. (via io9)

More info on one of the most hyped cyber/biopunk movies in the past few years. I spoke to Pearry Reginald Teo, director of THE GENE GENERATION and he confirmed that they’re “working on distribution rights in different countries/regions and the comics will be out in March“.
Which directly leads me to the point - there is a visual supplement to the movie itself, although I’d say that after having waited more than two years for the release, it’s more of a teaser until the DVD release than something we could rightfully grab as a stand-alone comics. Still.
The DNA Hacker Chronicles are released by Bloodfire Studios and as far as the official press release goes, the comics will delve deep into the DNA hacking aspect and readers will have to solve puzzles and break codes while reading the story - which is a brilliant idea in itself. Expect three issues (Genesis, The Suffering, Blood Alliance) this month. Unfortunately the last trailer hit YouTube some ninth months ago and the latest thing on MySpace is Bai Ling arrested at the airport for some pretty theft (which is more like forgetfulness and misdemeanour, they say).

Meglehetős újdonságnak tűnik nekem a Brian Wood által rajzolt aggro-pol-cyberpunk Channel Zero, pedig pont az ezredfordulón adták ki, a híranyagok szerint kultuszképregény, tananyagként használják a Parsons School of Designban, valamint pár díjat is bezsebelt a biztonság kedvéért. Wood most - nomen est omen - a szerzői jogok rászálltával letölthetővé tette a Public Domain c. artwork-albumot, ami a történethez kötődő vázlatokat, képeket, mini-képregényeket tartalmazza. Olvassatok utána, töltsétek, vegyétek meg. Alább rövid szinopszis. Háztetőről guggolva vizsgálódásért ötven jópont, szintlépés.

Delfinhangokkal megfejelt illbient háttérzene, séta közbeni agyáthangolás, folyamatos hallucinációk, beszélő halak, egy futurisztikus városra letekintő alvó óriásrobot - ez jellemzi a képregénybe átfordult ausztrál médiakísérlet első öt percét. A NAWLZ interaktív narratívaként jellemzi magát, két szinttel lejjebb ezt simán webes képregénynek hívják, de nem akármilyennek, a lenti pár screenshot alapján csak javasolni tudom - az év legötletesebb és legmegragadóbb képregényének merem hívni így december tájékán - még a Doktor Sleepless első három száma után is.
